The explosive demolition of tower blocks in the suburbs* has become a spectacle which is synonymous with the public death of a social symbol. The photographs, taken at the moment that the building starts to crumble, speak as much of the vulnerability of the structure as of the violence inflicted on the people who lived there. The concrete blocks collapse at the same time as a social history goes up in smoke. Extrait d’un entretien avec Marta Gili. « Fragilités », printemps de septembre, Actes-Sud, 2002.
